ram luna
Tarbaca, San José, Costa Rica

Dear guests, we give you a warm welcome.

In May 1967, a recently married and very in love Gilber and Moraima arrive at the mountains of Aserrí.
Back then the roads of Tarbaca were little more than dust for simple carts, and with no electricity, phone lines or running water, they decided to take on the task of transforming an old little dwelling that was home to this property, one that had been acquired by Gilber's father, Gonzalo Ramírez Luna.

In time, the young couple's hard work allowed them to pay him back for property and decide to name it Ram Luna, in honor of his father's last names.

With no experience but all the eagerness and determination to learn the culinary arts, they spent their days toiling away next to good people from the village and their own growing family as the years went by, always with a smile full of gratitude for all the people that made it all the way here to what you now know and love as Mirador Ram Luna.

With great joy came their first daughter Daniela, followed after two years by a little sister, Michelle, and after eight years their son Gabriel. Over half a century later, they now follow in the footsteps of their parents, making it into the great Ram Luna family.

On that fourth of May of 1967 began a great story of love and determination. Now, with nine grandchildren, it is a story that continues to be written along with all of you and thousands of people that have passed through this place with celebrations, engagements, and even weddings...

Our kitchen continues to be a simple one but full of flavor, with a wonderful mixture of international foods and our more traditional Costa Rican foods. We have adapted to the changes that have been necessary, and are now proud to have a kitchen that is 100% gluten-free and so delicious as to be awarded the National Institute of Tourism: Los Cinco Tenedores. We are also the first Restaurant Marca País "Esencial Costa Rica". We are the first "Mirador" in Costa Rican history, and each day it becomes our home and yours, where we welcome you with so much gratitude and genuine care.

Each year that passes there are more and more city lights that shine upon us, ever brighter like our passion for tending to our guests. So much so we don't know whether the stars are above or below here! To each and every one of our guests and diners, our most sincere thank you!
